Every Ypsilantian Is On Freecycle
YPSIDIXIT is tickled to see how Freecycle brings hordes of fellow Ypsilantians whom I know out of the woodwork. Tonight I offered an old moped and it was snapped up instantly by a local cafe owner down in Depot Town. Later, while in Depot Town with the AF, taking in an improv show at the Dreamland, the venue's kind proprietess asked Y. if her Mystery Box was still available (yes!) Y. likes the way Freecycle creates these little spiderweb connections to community members. And the glow of giving useful items to others is definitely addictive. It's also definitely sustainable in the way it distributes unused yet useful items to people who can use them. A great invention.

Yes, ma'am. But I tried to include only nice odds and ends. I didn't want to pawn off a box of junk. There were some unopened Gwen Frostic notecards in there (I have zillions; it's the only card I use for all occasions, for simplicity's sake) and a decorated snack tray and a clipboard and a hair ornament and some kitchen tools, a candle, a lace tablecloth (also unopened), and a passel of other doodads. Nice items, but just stuff for whatever reason I never use.

Forrest is so excited about the moped. We got it home safely and he rolled it down the driveway several times before putting it into the garage. It was perfect timing too. Just as we got back to restaurant, the auction on E-Bay was ending for a working motor. We won the auction, so we should have a replacement motor here in a couple of weeks. Even if the new motor doesnt work, we should have enough parts to get this scooter on the road.

Jim: Thank me? Thank YOU for the loveliest of bicycles. I'm totally geeked. I'm glad Forrest is excited by the moped. It would be so cool if he could get it running again and use it. He struck me as the nicest of young men. I'm glad he got something he can hopefully use.

Oh, it was certainly my pleasure! I was slouched in the comfy couch in back. It was a lot of fun as usual. I hope to catch most of the Improv with the Vegans shows this fall.
