QUOTE OF THE DAY from Metafilter:
"From what I'm reading, it sounds like most Lebanese are decent people who just want to go about their day-to-day business and enjoy life, but somehow a militant religious minority has gotten control over the government and the armed forces, and now all the citizens are having to pay the price for that.
Thank goodness nothing like that could happen here.

Iv'e gone to Johhnys Coney Island on Washtenaw across the street from Taco Bell and they have really good coneys. Iv'e been to Abes once or twice, not as good. Maybe the Cross street Coney Island might be fairly decent. The trick of the coney tasting good is in the chili they put on the coney.

I don't share mr_crash_davis' optimism or sense of security in his last line. I'm not convinced that it won't happen here. This latest round of anti-gay sentiment stikes to close to Nazism. A rising prejudice from within may become an enemy of compassion. The bombs we've exported over the years may very well come home to us, not to be delivered in crates. Where are the leaders who denounce the use of bloodshed as a means or refrain from using it?
