A KIND READER sends a link to the latest Courier story on the bus campaign. Kudos to City Council for approving the fare increase...now if the AATA would please approve it, too (crosses fingers).

Oopsie. Thanks, Murph; fixed it.

This is a good article and it's good to see that things are moving forward. But I agree with Laura that the rate increase is not a permanent solution.
More and more I am becoming a huge advocate of public transportation for the community building, community-oriented and environmentally sound aspects of it. And I think the entire county needs to realize that gas emissions and traffic congestion impacts all of us, it just doesn't stop at Ypsi or Ann Arbor. I really believe that problems, especially environmental problems, don't stop at city/township borders, because how can they?
Not that I should be proposing ideas, but I would love to see more discussions/events on how to change our car culture here.
Anyway, that's my thang. Thanks for your efforts!

I just talked with my insurance guy and canceled my insurance on my truck, which I plan to sell. It's been sitting in my driveway for a million years, going nowhere. Once that's gone, I'll be totally, and thankfully, car-free.

You rock, Laura!

Nancy: that is kind of you to say, but if you saw my truck you might not say so. It has a big pile of dirt in the bed with...uh, lots of plants growing in it. I have to keep weeding it to keep the level of the weeds below the bed level so the weed nazis don't bust me.
A friend visiting the other day said, "You're the only person I know who has to weed their truck."
Lucky for him he's one of my best friends.

I am worried about how long AATA's Cook said it would take to have a regional ballot initiative in front of the voters. The article says that he hopes to have a date within a year and a half to have the initiative go to the polls. That puts us into the November 2007 election if all goes well. Is that soon enough?

I've more or less been doing nothing worth mentioning, but eh. My life's been really bland today. I don't care. I've just been letting everything happen without me these days. That's how it is.

I haven't been up to much these days. Today was a loss. Nothing seems important. I've just been letting everything happen without me these days.
