Improv with the Vegans
At the Dreamland Theater last night, the improv comedy troupe Improv with the Vegans kept Y. and a friend in a state of almost constant laughter. Oh, were they quick-witted--making loopy, absurd situations seem perfectly quotidian, with lightning patter and quicksilver plot twists. It was the funniest show I've seen in years. This is no two-bit local group--the troupe has gigs all over the Detroit area. Y. and friend also enjoyed a nice dinner at the Sidetrack earlier, where Y. had a salmon filet stuffed with a spinach-cheese mixture that was absolutely divine and which I will have to try to make. Plus an immense Bell's Winter White with mysterious lemon slice (what happened to the erstwhile mysterious orange slice?). Another highlight of the evening involved meeting a sweetie pie, watermelon-sized calico cat. All in all it was the loveliest evening Y. has enjoyed in a very long time, and I felt lucky.

For some reason they put orange in the Oberon but lemon in the Winter White (even though personally I think if they must insist on contaminating my beer with fruit it'd work far better the other way around).
I asked them about it once but the waitress didn't have a clue...

The lemon added a nice zing to the Bell's, which tasted sweet and wheaty and mellow. It was fine beer.
