YPSILANTI has quietly paid Dennis Barger a settlement of $100,000 under the table, without bothering to go through city council. Barger was the gentleman whose basement collection of porn was sifted through by policemen, who entered without a warrant, during a neighborhood gas leak last year. Story.

I don't blame him for moving after all that.

I wondered about that too...but of course "correlation is not causation" so I have no idea of how he wound up in Taylor...the city took it on the chin for that careless incident.

"It was the insurance company's call. It's not an admission of guilt or an apology, but there was an event, and it was what it was. It's in the past."

Bah! It was an admission of guilt. Good for Barger. The whole thing sounded pretty dumb to me.

Charlie: That quote is weaselly. They knew they were wrong--obviously. They should just say so, ("it was what it was"--huh?) except that no one is responsible for anything any more.

"It's in the past." Do you hear me?! THE PAST!

Yeah. Right. You're right, Laura, weaselly fits the situation perfectly.

I've just been staying at home not getting anything done. I guess it doesn't bother me. Shrug. I haven't been up to anything. I haven't gotten much done today.
