Flowers in Snow
A magnolia upraises purple goblets of snow.
Forsythia is bowed down by the burden.
Snow makes a pillowy step terrace on a forsythia branch.
Tulips are shut tight against the cold.
A bemused bird pauses absentmindedly in the street.
Tender maple leaves collect white pads.
The cranberry is a tangle of twigs and white.
In the backyard, one red tulip waits out the cold.

These are beautiful pictures. I'm out of town today so I appreciate being able to see the spring valiantly trying to hold up under the puffy snow.

Thanks for your nice comment Suzie. It warmed up marginally and the snow is beginning to fall off in clumps, but it was very pretty this morning.

Haha. I was inspired by Mark's tulip photo so I grabbed my camera and took some photos at lunch time of all kinds of flowers in the snow (including red tulips). I cant post them though because I am at work.

That's funny. They're very different, though. Mark's is a very in-your-face tulip, in a photo whose mood is, "Look! This is what I have to put up with!" Yours is a gracefully drooping art-photo type one that suggests, "Though the snows bend me, I glow red." Mine is a somewhat forlorn one that seems to say, "You know, a bit of Miracle-Gro wouldn't kill me."

Those are very pretty pictures, Lynne. I have a lilac the exact same color, about a week away from fragrant, sweet bloom.
